Our school district like many others is facing unique challenges to starting school this year. We are working on plans to have our students participate in learning at school and if needed online at home. While many of our families have access to reliable internet service, approximately 30% of our students do not have reliable internet access at home. One creative solution is to look at partners in our community who could serve those families in need by possibly providing private WiFi internet access located in their church. Director of Schools, David McLain would like to invite local pastors/clergy or a representative from the church to a community meeting at Chuckey Doak High School on Thursday, July 16th, 2020 in the auditorium at 7 PM, if your church would desire to help with that service. He will share the needs of our district in more detail and discuss how they could help bridge that digital divide for those families who need it most.
